First, we want to say, “Thank you!” to Kevin Hawkins of NAS Interactive for a great job on Monday. The HCI webinar was informative, interesting and valuable. Here are a few key points we wanted to share.
What is Web 1.0? Web 1.0 delivers a strongly controlled message in a static environment viewed by a passive audience. So, what is Web 2.0? Web 2.0 delivers a fluid message that encourages participation, personalization and decentralization. In other words, it engages the audience turning message consumers into word-of-mouth influencers.
What does this mean for recruitment? It is now more imperative to understand who you audience is and what they are looking for. They’re not looking for hype. With Web 2.0 you are lending yourself to greater transparency. So you need to relate a real, useful message about your company and why they should work with you!
Wondering where to start? Think strategy. Plan for the long-term, but take action NOW! Web 2.0 is here! As Kevin likes to say, “Don’t spend time polishing the apple.” Your competitors are likely already involved in social medias such as blogs, social networks (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.), online chats, Wikis, podcasts, photo/video sharing, and RSS. Note: this list is not exhaustive. In fact, it is constantly evolving, which emphasizes our point. Your message will evolve as the social medias evolve so do your planning (we can help), and get your message out there.
Please let us know if you have any questions about Web 2.0 and how we can help you through our expertise and services by contacting our office or leaving a comment.
